Embedded Systems/Firmware Engineer

 As part of a new expansion into atomic based quantum computing ColdQuanta is seeking an experienced engineer with expertise in software and hardware for embedded systems.   Boulder, Colorado and will include collaboration with engineers and scientists from ColdQuanta in Boulder and a University of Wisconsin-Madison based quantum computing research group. We can only accept applications from green card holders or citizens due to ITAR restrictions and government contract requirements. Position Description:

  • Work with the team responsible for design, development, and test of the control system for an atomic quantum computer
  • Design and implement FPGA controllers that interface with electronic, optical, laser, and environmental subsystems
  • Develop firmware for high bandwidth waveform generation and digital servo systems
  • Develop and document test procedures for system testing, debugging, and optimization


  • Minimum of a MS degree or 3+ years industry experience in Computer or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Proficient in Verilog/VHDL, Python, (firmware) C/C++, and git
  • Experience with digital and analog electronics and expertise with electronic test and measurement tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working with engineers and scientists in a fast-paced, agile, and collaborative development environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Design of high speed and low noise analog and digital electronics
  • Experience with laser/optical/microwave instrumentation
  • Some LabView experience
  • Basic familiarity with principles of quantum computing
